Casting call for ‘Noises Off’ in Waldoboro

WALDOBORO, Maine — Auditions for “Noises Off” will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, June 26, and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, at the Waldo Theatre, 916 Main St.

Auditioners are asked to arrive as close to the start time as possible and to wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Those unable to make auditions should call the theater at 832-6060 to make other arrangements.

“Noises Off” was written by Michael Frayn and produced with Samuel French. Bill Coombs will direct the production with performances the weekends of Sept. 30 and Oct. 7.

Global Water Dance in Belfast Seeks Dancers

BELFAST, Maine — Waterfall Arts and the Belfast Dance Studio are collaborating on Global Water Dances, an international annual event to celebrate public access to water, 5 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at the Belfast Harbor Park with live musicians, dancers and audience participation.

Global Water Dances will occur internationally at 5 p.m. in each location’s time zone. In addition to Belfast, participants include Beijing, Lima, Maui and Cairo, among others.  The Global Water Dances initiative is “Dancing for Safe Water Everywhere.” This performance is a model of how to use participatory art to raise consciousness about environmental problems and how to bring people together to work on solving these problems. Waterfall Arts and the Belfast Dance Studio are seeking dancers of all levels interested in participating in the Belfast event. Haystack Award Winner

DEER ISLE, Maine — Haystack Mountain School of Crafts Irving Sherman Scholarship has been awarded to 2010 Deer Isle-Stonington graduate Meagan Robinson. The scholarship is awarded  annually to a graduating senior or graduate from Deer Isle-Stonington High School.  Haystack is an international, nonprofit, studio program in the arts offering summer workshops to craft-makers and visual artists of all skill levels led by faculty artists.
