Bangor Legion team rolls in opener

BLUE HILL — Joe Stanevicz drove in five runs with a homer and two singles and Nic Cota had a double and three singles and knocked in three runs as the Bangor American Legion baseball team unleashed a 21-hit attack for an 18-1 win over the Acadians in the mutual season-opener Friday.

Christian Corneil had a three-run triple and a single; Seth Freudenberger had three singles and two RBIs and and Anthony Capuano singled twice and knocked in three runs.

Jesse Wood pitched five innings of one-hit, one-run ball with seven strikeouts and three walks in picking up the win.

Dennis O’Neil singled for the Acadians’ only hit.
