Agricultural poster contest winners

CAMDEN, Maine — This spring, students in Camden, Rockport, Hope, Appleton and Lincolnville were given with the challenge of making an advertisement poster for a local farm for Aldermere Farm’s annual Agricultural Poster Contest. More than 200 students from five schools took on the challenge and submitted posters that helps students learn about local farms and shows support for local agriculture.

The contest was open to students in third through 12th grades. “We loved doing the posters and we will definitely do it again next year,” said Camden Hills Regional High School art teacher Russell Kahn.

The posters were on display during Aldermere’s Calf Unveiling Day on May 14. More than 600 people attended the event.  Winners were awarded prizes from local businesses, including Penbay YMCA, the Farnsworth Art Museum, Flagship Cinemas, Aldermere Farm and Rockport Blueprint.

First place winners were Colin Stewart, Quinn Kelley, Makayla Maxwell all of Appleton Village School; and Carrie June of Camden Hills Regional High School.

Second place winners were Tatum Dowd of Camden-Rockport Elementary School, Tucker Patten and Carly Berke of Appleton Village School and Lexi Doudera of Camden Hills Regional High School.
