BANGOR, Maine — Husson University has hired Jeri Misler of Winterport to be managing director of the Gracie Theatre.
Misler is well-known to Greater Bangor theater-goers. Her experience includes house management, directing and producing. She has appeared in productions staged by Penobscot Theatre Company in Bangor and Winterport Open Stage, which performs at the Samuel Wagner Middle School.
Misler said Thursday that during her first year at the Gracie she would “test the waters” to see what appeals to the Husson and Bangor communities.
Misler takes over from Founding Managing Director Julie Green, who oversaw the theater in tandem with her duties as the former director of public affairs.
“I hope to develop a mission statement and goals for the Gracie that speak to the needs of the students and the greater community,” Misler said. “This will serve as the guide for establishing a vibrant arts program in the future which includes lectures, poetry, dance, theatre, fine arts and more.”
She earned her undergraduate degree from Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, Penn. She earned a master’s of fine arts degree in acting from University of Pittsburgh. Misler and her family moved to Maine in 2004 from Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Misler lives in Winterport with her husband and three daughters.
