Antique appraisal to benefit Lifeline program

Posted June 13, 2011, at 7:29 p.m.

Rosscare Healthcare Charities and Dirigo Pines will host an antique appraisal show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at Dirigo Pines Retirement Community in Orono. All proceeds will benefit Rosscare’s Lifeline Help Button program.

The Lifeline program provides services to more than 800 elderly and disabled residents of Greater Bangor. If an individual experiences an emergency, he or she can summon help by pressing the button on the Lifeline unit. The Lifeline program has allowed many seniors to stay in their homes longer and more safely.

The antique appraisal show will feature Bruce A. Buxton, a licensed qualified auctioneer based in Portland who is known for his entertaining and lively style. Mr. Buxton and his staff will not buy or sell any items at the event, guaranteeing an unbiased assessment of the antiques. The fee for appraisal is $10 for one item, $18 for two items and $25 for three items.

The public is invited to bring items to be appraised or to attend just for fun. For more information, contact Steve Bowler at 866-3400 or Healthcare Charities at 973-5055.
