5th grade teacher charged with child porn

The Associated Press

MONMOUTH, Maine — A Maine fifth grade teacher is facing child pornography charges after police allegedly found illegal images on two laptop computers.

Maine State Police say 45-year-old Christopher Brown of Monmouth was arrested Thursday and charged with possession of sexually explicit material.

Police say Brown was ordered to stay away from the Monmouth Middle School where he had taught for more than a dozen years.

State Police Sgt. Glenn Lang said investigators were contacted after a school official reported students found photos on a classroom computer of girls on the school playground.

The Portland Press Herald says police later searched two school laptop computers assigned to Brown and found sexually explicit material on them.

Lang says it doesn’t appear that any of the illegal images were of Monmouth children.
