STACYVILLE — Brandon Robinson pitched 5 1/3 solid innings Thursday and struck out 11, leading top-seeded Katahdin to a 7-3 Class D baseball quarterfinal victory over No. 8 Shead of Eastport.

Robinson also contributed at the plate, hitting a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth to break a 3-3 tie. Mook McGraw added three singles and an RBI for the 12-3 Cougars. Spender Anderson and Jesse McNally each had RBI doubles.

Thomas Stanhope had a double and single and Frank Schath added an RBI single in the fifth as Shead ends its season at 9-8-1.

Hermon 3, Ellsworth 0

At Ellsworth, Cody Veilleux hit a two-run single in the first inning and Tyler Fournier hit an RBI single in the seventh to help seventh-seeded Hermon upset No. 2 Ellsworth in an Eastern Maine quarterfinal.

Braddock Deabay threw a six-hit shutout, striking out five and walking three, to pick up the win for the 13-5 Hawks.

Thomas Sawyer had two singles for the 13-4 Eagles.

Foxcroft 12, Madawaska 5

At Dover-Foxcroft, Cody Coiley had two doubles, a single and two RBIs to lead a 12-hit attack and propel the unbeaten and top-seeded Ponies past the No. 9 Owls.

For the 17-0 Ponies, Ryan Rebar had a triple, a single and two RBIs. Nick Strout singled twice. Rebar and Jesse Provost combined to allow seven hits.

For 11-7 Madawaska, Devan Pelletier doubled twice and Sam Cyr had a double, single and one RBI.

At Blue Hill, Max Bouchard pitched a five-hit shutout with six strikeouts and no walks to lead No. 5 Stearns of Millinocket by No. 4 George Stevens Academy.

For the 12-4 Minutemen, all three runs came in the top of the first and two of them were unearned.

Brandon Bouchard scored the first run with a bases-loaded RBI single and the ball rolled by the left fielder to score the second run. The third came home via another error. John Dumas and Brandon Bouchard each singled twice.

Nick Kane also pitched a five-hitter and led the offense with a triple and a single for the 10-5-1 Eagles. Ben Olivari added a double.

Calais 8, Narraguagus 0

At Calais, Adam Geel, Joe Mitchell and Jeremy Beers combined to throw a six-hit shutout while striking out seven as second-seeded Calais eliminated No. 7 Narraguagus of Harrington in an Eastern Maine quarterfinal.

Mitchell hit a single in the first, an RBI single in the fifth, and scored two runs. Geel had two singles and scored three runs for the 13-1-1 Blue Devils.

Matt Moore led the Knights with a double and a single as Narraguagus finished its season 11-5.
