HARRINGTON, Maine — Two men were arrested Wednesday and charged with trafficking in cocaine after a month long undercover drug investigation by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency in Washington County.

Keith Small, 39, of Hancock and Harold “Sonny” Tenney, 51, of Harrington are facing Class B felony charges punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

In early May, MDEA agents opened an investigation into complaints that Tenney was selling cocaine, according to MDEA Division Commander Darrell Crandall. As part of that investigation, Crandall said agents were able to purchase an eighth ounce of cocaine from Tenney on May 23.

During the drug transaction, Tenney was followed as he traveled to his supplier who was identified as Small. Small, who has a home in Hancock, was staying in a camper on the Hatchery Road in Deblois.

Tuesday evening,  MDEA agents, assisted by a Maine State Trooper, were able to buy another eighth ounce of cocaine from Tenney and once again followed him to Small’s camper to get the cocaine.

Shortly after 2 a.m. on Wednesday, several MDEA agents and a Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy executed a search warrant at Small’s camper, seizing cocaine, heroin, scales and money that had been used to purchase the cocaine from Tenney. Small was there and offered no resistance. He was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail where he was booked on charges of trafficking in cocaine, possession of heroin and possession of cocaine.

Small posted $5,000 unsecured bail later that morning and was released with an initial court appearance scheduled for July 25 in Machias.

Later on Wednesday, Tenney was arrested and taken to the Washington County jail, charged with two counts of trafficking in cocaine and violation of conditions of release. He had been on bail for an assault charge.
