BELFAST, Maine — The Spring AARP Driver Safety Course, presented through a partnership between AARP and the Volunteers of America will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at the Reynolds House, located off Congress St. and Route 1 in Belfast.
AARP Driver Safety instructor Paul Sheridan will teach defensive driving techniques and strategies, traffic laws, rules of the road and more in the four-hour course.

Father’s Day film and benefit slated in Brooks
BROOKS, Maine — The Brooks Park Boosters will present the film “Field of Dreams” for Father’s Day at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 19, at the Marsh River Theater, 24 Monroe Highway, Route 139, in Brooks village.
The ticket price for adults is $5, children 12 and under will be admitted for $2, and all fathers will be admitted free of charge when accompanied by their child or children.
“Field of Dreams” is a 1989 movie starring Kevin Costner, Ray Liotta, James Earl Jones and film legend Burt Lancaster in his final silver screen appearance. Concessions will be sold and a 50-50 drawing will also take place. Funds raised during this special Father’s Day event will go toward the Brooks Fourth of July fireworks.

Holistic wellness class to be offered in Blue Hill
BLUE HILL, Maine — Lodestar Holistic Wellness will host a two-day class, Being in Warm Waters, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, June 22-23, at the Ulimuri Pool in Blue Hill. The class is designed for therapeutic practitioners who currently work in the water or want to bring their skills to the water. The class will be taught by Sara Pierce and she will also teach the work of Presence in Healing.

Free Belfast workshop to promote nutrition, exercise
BELFAST, Maine — Waldo County General Hospital, local pediatricians and Let’s Go Waldo! 5-2-1-0 are teaming up to present a free workshop to promote nutrition and exercise. “Healthy Kids!” is designed to educate and encourage healthful habits to area children and their parents from noon to 1 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, June 20, 22, 24, 27, 29 and July 1, at the Education Center, adjacent to Waldo County General Hospital.
Registered Dietitian Jen Nelson and Health Educator Hester Kohl will lead the group with a variety of games and other fun activities. Handouts, recipes and samples will also be available to continue health education at home.
