Book reading and signing in Newport

NEWPORT, Maine — Maine author Ardeana Hamlin will read from and sign copies of her new novel, “Abbott’s Reach,” at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at the Newport Cultural Center at 154 Main St. in Newport. Volunteer finding workshop

MILO, Maine — Eastern Maine Development Corporation, in cooperation with the Maine State Planning Office and Maine Collaborative Planning, will offer a free workshop designed to help communities find volunteers.

The two-hour workshop will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, June 13, at Ed Wingler Auditorium, Milo Town Office, 6 Pleasant St. in Milo.  Selectmen, town managers and other community officials, along with community members are encouraged to attend. Manna matching grant

BANGOR, Maine — Manna Ministries has been offered a $50,000 matching grant for funds that will be used to provide food and shelter for people in the community that utilize Manna. BANGOR, Maine — A notice for the Chapin Neighborhood Block Party event planning meeting that ran Monday, June 6 in print and online stated the 17th annual Neighborhood Block Party will be held Tuesday, June 26. The correct date is Tuesday, July 26, in Bangor. Chapin Park fliers are also incorrect, with the wrong month.

Peony Society garden tour speaker replacement

BANGOR, Maine — The Peony Society garden tour will host speaker Claire Ackroyd, native landscape designer, at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at 23 Ohio St. in Bangor.
