An aerial view shows Bar Harbor, circa 1920. Bar Harbor first was named the Town of Eden in 1796, then renamed Bar Harbor in 1918. Bar Island is in the foreground, and the mountains of Acadia National Park are in the background. George B. Dorr, Charles W. Eliot and later John D. Rockefeller Jr. all worked to create Lafayette National Park in 1919, which was renamed Acadia National Park in 1929.
