WINSLOW, Maine — Maine State Police say a husband chased his wife down the street, firing multiple shots before killing her in front of a neighbor’s home in Winslow.

Spokesman Steve McCausland says 32-year-old Nathaniel Gordon then led police on a pursuit Monday evening on the Maine Turnpike after killing 30-year-old Sarah Gordon.

Troopers say Nathaniel Gordon fired shots from his car before killing himself after one of his tires was deflated by a spike mat, causing his car to strike a guardrail in Gray.

McCausland says the Gordons were parents of a son and daughter, ages 8 and 9, who’ve been placed in the custody of a grandparent.

He says this was the seventh homicide of the year in Maine and the third related to domestic violence. Autopsies were scheduled Tuesday.
