BELFAST, Maine — A final audition for Belfast Maskers production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s comic operetta “Pirates of Penzance” will be held 1-3 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at Belfast Maskers Waterfront Theater, 43 Front St. Belfast Maskers will bring some lively, innovative comedic elements to this beloved classic and will present it by the bay in Steamboat Landing Park.
Among the roles still to be cast are: The Pirate King, which calls for a strong baritone singer with good comedic timing and some degree of athletic ability; The Sergeant of Police, who will have some singing solos and several lines of dialogue; pirates and policemen of all ages (from teen up), abilities, and physical type.
Rehearsals will be outdoors, when weather permits and the park is available, twice a week until the opening approaches, then four nights a week for the last couple weeks. This is a community theater and the process is meant to be fun, while still creating a very professional production.
“Pirates” invades Steamboat Landing Park on July 28 and will run for nine consecutive nights at 7 p.m. Tickets will be available for both shows at the park one hour before show time; by calling the box office:338-9668; or at Yo Mamma’s Home, 96 Main St..
