WATERBORO, Maine — A North Waterboro man suffered burns to his hands and legs when the boat he was on with his wife on Ossipee Lake caught fire Monday afternoon about 50 yards offshore, according to a press release from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
Normand Paquette and his wife, Carmen, who ended up in the water, said a fire engulfed the watercraft. Normand Paquette reportedly was taken to Goodall Hospital in Sanford by Waterboro emergency medical services to be evaluated for burns on his hands and right leg. Carmen Paquette reportedly was not injured.
The boat remained in the water, according to the press release.
The Maine Warden Service is investigating. Waterboro Fire and Rescue and Waterboro EMS also went to the scene of the fire.
