Limerick man charged with setting own trailer on fire

The Associated Press

LIMERICK, Maine — Fire investigators are charging a Limerick man with arson after he allegedly set his own camper on fire.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office said 47-year-old Michael Norton was jailed Sunday afternoon after he was released from Southern Maine Medical Center, where he was taken for evaluation after the fire was reported.

Investigators said Norton’s 31-foot trailer was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived at his Pickerel Pond Road address shortly after midnight Saturday. Officials said when firefighters arrived, Norton was throwing items into the flames.

Officials had no explanation why Norton allegedly set fire to his own trailer.
