WINSLOW, Maine — State Police are calling the shooting deaths of a man and woman Monday night in Winslow and Gray a case of domestic violence murder-suicide.

Police said Sarah Gordon, 30, was shot and killed outside her home on Marie Street in Winslow. She was shot by her husband, Nathaniel Gordon, 32, who fled the scene in his car, according to police. Gordon then shot and killed himself in his car at 9 p.m. at the conclusion of a chase with State Troopers along the Maine Turnpike in Gray.

Autopsies are scheduled Tuesday on the bodies at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta.

Troopers spotted Gordon’s Chevrolet Lumina on the turnpike north of Lewiston a short time after the shooting in Winslow was reported. Troopers chased the car to Gray where spike mats deflated at least one of the car’s tires. The chase ended when Gordon shot himself and his car struck the guardrails along the median, near the Route 26 overpass in Gray.
