Washington Ladies’ Guild treasurer Barbara Carney (second from left) hosted a tea party recently to kick-off organization of the Strawberry Festival. Besides enjoying pinkie-pointing cups of tea and cakes, the women got lots of planning done. The Strawberry Festival will be held 1-6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at the Washington Fire Station, a new venue. The Ladies’ Guild is a group of women who get together for sociability and service to the town through raising money and assisting local nonprofits. They meet monthly in different locations around town. All women of the community are invited to join the group. For more information, call Mildred Melgard at 845-3102. Making plans for the Strawberry Festival are Washington Ladies Guild members (from left) Mildred Melgard, Carney, Deb Zeigler, Linda Luce, Barbara Sage and Nancy Barker.
