SAD 41 proposed 2011-2012 budget up by $103,000

MILO, Maine — SAD 41’s proposed 2011-2012 budget suggests eliminating four education technicians.

SAD 41 Superintendent Michael C. Wright has proposed a budget of $7,671,000 that reflects an increase of $103,000 over the current year’s budget. If adopted, the district assessment for Milo, Brownville, Atkinson and LaGrange will be $128,454 more than the current year’s.

Wright said he has proposed eliminating four education technician positions to help reduce the district’s spending. He also plans to reconfigure the district’s technology administration and divide some of the duties among several people. Those changes will represent about $120,000 in savings.

“It is a budget that tries to meet the needs of our students without having the subsidy shortages unduly impact our citizens,” Wright said recently.

The district budget meeting will be held on June 16 and the budget validation vote on June 21.
