Outdoor Family Fun Day in Brewer

BREWER, Maine — The Penobscot County Conservation Association will host an Outdoor Family Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at the group’s clubhouse, 570 North Main St.

Bangor Daily News offers online seminar for businesses

BANGOR, Maine — The Top 10 Ways to Market Your Business Online Seminar will be hosted by the Bangor Daily News from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, in the Lancaster Room at Hollywood Slots.

Participants can learn about social media and marketing, if your business needs to consider online marketing, and how you’ll find the time to do it.

Sparrow tour planned in Winterport

WINTERPORT, Maine — Join leader John Wyatt of Fields Pond Audubon Center for a sparrow tour at 7 a.m. Saturday, June 11, car-pooling from the public parking lot in downtown Winterport for a tour of Prospect and Frankfort.

Rain date is Saturday, June 18.

Mushroom identification class scheduled in Holden

HOLDEN, Maine — Join Greg Marley, founder of Mushrooms for Health, for a day devoted to building the skills needed to identify common mushrooms from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 12, at Fields Pond Audobon Center.

The class will combine lecture and outdoor experience. Identification features, ecology and the seasonal occurrence of mushrooms, a look at edible as well as common poisonous mushrooms, and cooking and eating mushrooms will be covered.

Moonlight canoe night to be held in Holden

HOLDEN, Maine — Moonlight canoeing will be offered at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at the Fields Pond Audubon Center.

The cost is $5 per person and $10 per rental canoe with life jacket and paddles.

Hammond Senior Center public breakfast to celebrate summer

BANGOR, Maine — Members of the Hammond Street Senior Center invite the public to breakfast to celebrate summer from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 17, at 2 Hammond St.

Volunteers will serve fresh scrambled eggs, pancakes, baked beans, home fries, bacon, sausage, toast, juice, coffee and tea — all for just $5. Breakfast tickets are available in advance or at the door; no reservations required. The breakfast is open to all ages.

Hammond Street Senior Center selling plants

BANGOR, Maine — As plant sales spring up faster than dandelions, member-volunteers at the Hammond Street Senior Center invite gardeners and plant enthusiasts of all ages to put the “Still Growing” Plant Sale on their must-go-to list.

The sale, rain or shine, is 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, June 3, and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, June 4.

The plant sale will be held in the senior center’s walk-out basement and back parking lot at 2 Hammond St.

The senior center will gladly accept more plants for the sale. Donations of healthy, labeled plants can be brought to the center between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. through Friday, June 3.
