LYMAN, Maine — Police say alcohol and excessive speed are suspected factors in an early morning crash that killed two 22-year-old women in southern Maine.
The York County Sheriff’s Office says Juliza McCurry of Biddeford and her passenger, Sheri Watson of Sanford, were killed instantly when their car struck a tree on South Waterboro Road in Lyman at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Deputies say it appears the car skidded out of control, struck a rock and flipped over before striking a large tree. It took rescue workers more than two hours to remove the victims from the wreckage.
The crash is under investigation.
