BANGOR, Maine — James Frost, principal of Bangor Christian Schools, has announced the valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2011. The graduation ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, June 10, in the Bangor Baptist Church auditorium.
Megan Wilson, daughter of David and Cleola Wilson of Levant, has been named valedictorian. She plans to attend Liberty University in Virginia to double-major in teaching English as a second language and music education.
She has served as a student council member, class officer, and a National Honor Society member. She is also a National Merit Commended Scholar, and a Voice of Democracy essay contest district winner.
Wilson was an All-State Chorus member for three years, and furthered her musical abilities in honors ensemble, band, chorus and drama productions. Throughout high school, she participated in cross country and cheerleading, earning numerous school awards. In addition, she is a Penobscot Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete.
Katherine Bishop, daughter of Javan and Deborah Bishop of Frankfort, has been named salutatorian. She will attend Gordon College this fall and major in elementary education with a concentration on reading.
Bishop served her school community the past several years by volunteering in the first- and second-grade classrooms as an elementary aide. She also has been an active member of the National Honor Society the past two years, serving as president her senior year. She participated in drama for her entire high school career and was a member of the varsity cross country, track and swim teams her freshman and sophomore years.
She has served as a senior counselor and lifeguard at Fair Haven Camps and went to Mexico, ministering to those in need by building houses for the homeless. She also went to a warehouse in Lancaster, Pa., to pack aid for countries in need of physical reinforcements and spiritual encouragement.
