Old Town High announces honor parts

OLD TOWN — Old Town High School has announced honor parts for the Class of 2011. Graduation will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 10, in the MacKenzie Gymnasium at Old Town High School.

Dacie Manion, daughter of William and Lynne Manion, has been named valedictorian for her class. She plans to attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to study mechanical engineering.

Manion is president of the National Honor Society, a member of the envirothon team, the math team, Key Club, the writing center, Junior Prize Speaking Exhibition, and Women in Science and Engineering Club. She has competed on the cross country, swimming and diving, and track and field teams.

Andrea Cashon, daughter of Robert Cashon and Rebecca Van Beneden, has been named salutatorian for her class. She plans to attend Cornell University to study biomedical engineering.

Cashon is a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, math team, the symphonic band, concert band, jazz ensemble and pep band. She received the John Philip Sousa Band Award and is a member of the All State Band. As a junior she attended Dirigo Girls State. She has competed in soccer, indoor track and softball.
