Motorcyclist hurt in Blue Hill collision

BLUE HILL, Maine – A Bucksport man was injured Monday afternoon in a motorcycle accident on Route 15.

According to Trooper Dan Ryan of the Maine State Police, Vernon Wilbur, 43, was traveling north on Route 15 and attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Beech Hill Road. He turned into the path of a vehicle driven by Martin Conti, 18, of Orland.

Wilbur suffered internal injuries and was taken initially to Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. He was later transferred by LifeFlight to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. His injuries were not considered to be life-threatening, according to Ryan.

Conti and the three passengers in his vehicle were not injured in the crash.

Wilbur’s 2001 Honda motorcycle was considered a total loss, and Conti’s 2000 Ford Taurus also sustained significant damage.
