Old Town teams record pointworthy victories

BUCKSPORT — The Old Town baseball and softball teams picked up some valuable points Friday with 8-7 and 2-1 victories, respectively, over Bucksport Friday.

In baseball action, Cody Cross knocked in the winning run on a single in the top of the eighth inning to lift Old Town by Bucksport.

Cross collected two singles and a double for the 9-5 Coyotes. Gabe Melmed posted two singles, a double and a two RBIs while Casey Estes and Cameron Archer each doubled and singled. Lucas Baillargeon and Dan Gastia added two singles apiece.

Billy DeRedin led the 9-4 Golden Bucks with a double, a single and two RBIs. Kyle McAllian hit a two-run home run while Mike Cummings singled twice.

In the softball game, Suzie Outman doubled in the winning run in the top of the sixth to give the Coyotes the victory.

Kendra Haywood held the Golden Bucks to five hits to help Old Town improve to 10-4.

For Bucksport, now 11-2, Sadie White had an RBI single and Shelby Redman doubled. Abby Yeo allowed only four hits and struck out 12.
