Chuck Dinsmore explores a beaver lodge at Hidden Valley Nature Center in Jefferson. The center is offering a free guided tour at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 4, National Trails Day, which will start at the gate. A picnic lunch will be eaten at Little Dyer Pond. Canoes, paddles and personal flotation devices are ready for a paddle on the lake; fishing is on the schedule for those with a fishing license and gear. Bring picnic lunch, water, and bug and sun protection. The event is free and open to all. Donations are accepted.
