BOSTON — A Boston man accused of a fatal shooting at an MBTA station has been ordered held without bail.

Nhu Nguyen was arraigned Friday in Dorchester District Court on a murder charge stemming from the May 7 shooting death of 19-year-old Derek Matulina at the Savin Hill MBTA station.

Prosecutors said the two had an increasingly hostile relationship and had gotten into an argument that continued onto the platform. They said Matulina then hit Nguyen from behind several times with a padlock wrapped in a bandanna.

The men were separated before the 19-year-old Nguyen allegedly pulled a handgun and shot Matulina in the chest.

Nguyen allegedly fled to an acquaintance’s house in Portland, Maine, where he was apprehended on May 12.

Attempts to reach Nguyen’s attorney were not immediately successful.
