SACO, Maine — Three University of Maine students hope to sharpen their business skills by running the Saco Drive-In Theater this summer.

The Journal Tribune of Biddeford says the theater opens Friday with marketing students Ry Russell of Scarborough, Patric Brophy of Farmington and Tyler Wells of Holden, Mass., running it.

The idea began when Russell’s father drove by and saw the theater was for lease. Russell contacted the other two, and after speaking with the owner, securing investors and learning about running a drive-in, the three are ready to roll. They began working on the project in February.

They’re using Facebook to see what types of movies people want to watch.

The Saco Drive-In is said to be the oldest of five in Maine, and the second oldest operating drive-in the country.
