Bangor police charge two in copper theft

By Dawn Gagnon, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — Police charged two local men with possession of stolen property Thursday morning after finding them near an Allen Street home with copper piping that a homeowner said was missing from his residence.

Charged were Scott Langron, 32, and David Ruest, 22, Lt. Jeff Millard said Thursday night.

Millard said that the two were not charged with theft because police officers were not able to prove that they had taken the copper, which a police report indicated was worth at least $100. While the two denied taking the copper, they were standing next to it when the police found them.
