Jonesport-Beals High School names honor parts

JONESPORT, Maine — The faculty and administration of Jonesport-Beals High School has announced the class parts for the school year 2010-11.

Zachary Smith, son of Pamela and Christopher Smith of Jonesport, has been named valedictorian for his class. He plans to attend Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass., and major in biology.

Smith is a member of the National Honor Society and the student council president. In addition to numerous academic awards, he has received the Maine Principal’s Award. He has attended Dirigo Boys State and has been active in his class serving as class president. He has been involved in the mentoring program, chorus and the school play and has participated in soccer, basketball and tennis.

Sarah Milliken, daughter of Dawn and William Milliken of Jonesport, has been named salutatorian for her class. She plans to attend the University of Maine and major in liberal arts and sciences.

Milliken is a member of the National Honor Society. She has been active in her class, school plays, mentoring program and the music program. She has participated in volleyball, cheering and softball.
