Nick Stevens, a junior running back and nose guard from Hampden Academy, has been nominated to play in the 2012 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, to be held Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas..

Stevens was nominated by the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Committee, which consists of a network of regional coaches throughout the country, and Rivals.com. Of the more than 440 nominees, 90 ultimately are selected and invited to participate in the game.

Players and All-American Marching Band musicians will be selected throughout the coming fall.

Stevens, who also competes in track and field at Hampden Academy, helped coach Harry McCluskey’s Broncos football team to an 8-2 overall record and a berth in the Pine Tree Conference Class B semifinals last fall.

Stevens joins other area players who have been nominated for the All-American Bowl in recent years, including former Hampden standout Shawn Smith and Bangor High School quarterback Joe Seccareccia.
