Piscataquis Community High School honor parts listed


GUILFORD, Maine — Piscataquis Community High School has announced the honor parts for the graduating Class of 2011. Graduation will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 5.

Megan Martell, daughter of Peter and Lisa Martell of Guilford, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2011. She will attend the University of Maine to study biology and has plans to attend dental school.

She is a four-year honor student, active in many clubs, activities and sports. She has held an office for all four years of high school, including Civil Rights Club president, student council president, vice president of the National Honor Society, and president of her senior class.

Martell is a three-sport athlete selected captain junior and senior years in soccer and basketball and currently captain of the tennis team. She was selected as a scholar athlete and received the Maine Principal’s Association award.

Troy Violette, son of Paul and Charlotte Violette of Wellington, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2011. He will attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., with a Naval ROTC scholarship, studying nuclear engineering.

He has been a National Honor Society president, Civil Rights vice president, student council treasurer, and recipient of the scholar athlete award.
