Area troops head home, get promoted, attend basic training

Headed home

WINTERPORT — Army Reserve Spc. Eric W. Flowers is returning to the U.S. after a deployment to Iraq. He served in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn.

Flowers, a motor transport operator with two years of military service, is regularly assigned to the 619th Transportation Company, based in Dexter.

A 2007 graduate of Hampden Academy, Flowers is the son of Steve R. and Jan M. Flowers of Winterport.

Promoted

Maj. Gen. John W. Libby, Adjutant General, Maine National Guard, announced these promotions recently:

Pfc. Holly Parker, Brooks, 133rd Headquarters, Headquarters Company.

Pfc. Tatjana Francismezger, Searsport, Company C, 1-126th Aviation Regiment.

Basic training

MONROE — Army National Guard Pvt. Joel Thomas graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. A 1998 graduate of Mount View High School in Thorndike, Thomas is the son of Robert Thomas of Monroe.
