BELFAST — Members of the Midcoast Leadership Academy, Class 4, toured the State House in Augusta on April 30 for its Government Day. Robin McIntosh and Lori Roming, coordinators of the program, led the group through debates on the Bottle Redemption Repeal question in the morning, followed by a State House tour.  A follow-up debate on the Right to Work question closed out the morning. The afternoon included lunch in the Cross Cafe and committee session observations.

The program pairs emerging leaders with established community leaders to sharpen current skills, to build new ones and to form the relationships necessary to develop networking skills that directly contribute to community development.

Program participants are nominated by area citizens and community leaders and selected through a competitive process of application. For more information, call Nancy Boyington at the UMaine HutchinsonCenter or email nancyb@maine.edu
