AUGUSTA, Maine — Police in Maine say charges are possible against the driver of a pickup truck that destroyed an Augusta home after the vehicle hit the house and set it on fire.

There were no injuries in the crash and fire, which was reported about 6:10 a.m. Sunday.

Homeowner Ken Ward says he and his wife Linda lost everything, but he was grateful they escaped uninjured.

Ward told the Kennebec Journal that when he looked for the driver of the vehicle, the driver was gone.

Police say that shortly after the crash a vehicle was stolen nearby.

The stolen vehicle was later stopped in Pittsfield and the driver, Jacob Russell, 26, of Bass Harbor was charged with operating a stolen vehicle.
