Bean supper, concert on tap in Glenburn

GLENBURN, Maine — The West Glenburn Community Club will host a benefit bean supper and “Raising the Roof ” concert by Spirited Folk starting at 4:30 p.m. with the concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at the club located at the corner of Ohio Street and the Phillips Road in Glenburn. Tickets are $6 for supper, $6 for the concert or $10 for both. Children under 12 and family discounts are available. Proceeds will benefit a new roof for the West Glenburn Community Club, a non-profit charitable service organization. For more information, call  Dave Mussey at 884-6278.

Benefit supper Saturday for Kand family in Abbot

GUILFORD, Maine — A benefit supper will be held for the Valor Kand family from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at the Red Maple Inn in Guilford. The Kand family lost all their possessions and their home to a fire on May 15. Admission is by donation. An auction of donated items

East Orrington church holding baked bean supper

ORRINGTON, Maine — The East Orrington Congregational Church will hold a baked bean supper from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at 38 Johnson Mill Road in Orrington. The price for supper is $7 for adults and $3 for children. The menu will include supper and homemade pies for dessert.

Motorcycle ride to benefit Children’s Miracle Network

OLD TOWN, Maine — A benefit motorcycle ride for Children’s Miracle Network begins with registration from 8 to 9 a.m. Sunday, May 22, at Rite Aid in Old Town. Entry fee is $5 per person. Landscape design offered at Fields Pond

HOLDEN, Maine — Learn about designing sustainable, environmentally sensitive landscapes in Maine with Claire Ackroyd  at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, at Fields Pond in Holden. Ackroyd will inspire her audience with images and examples of work she has done. With a lifetime of experience as a landscape designer, Claire’s work is informed by her fascination with the natural plant world and by her experience as an ecologist, conservationist, organic systems agronomist and educator. Tree identification walk set at Audubon

HOLDEN, Maine — Join University of Maine’s forest vegetation instructor, Steve Sader, for a tree identification walk from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 28, at Fields Pond Audubon Center in Holden. Learn how to use a summer plant key to identify unknown species.  Participants will also learn how to build their own plant press.

Sea lamprey topic of Audubon field trip

HOLDEN, Maine — Robert Hogg, winner of PVC’s Inez Boyd Environmental Research Award, will lead a field trip to Sedgeunkedunk Stream to introduce the little-known and less-understood sea lamprey from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at the parking lot at Fields Pond Audubon Center.

Rock, raft, skydive at Three Rivers weekend

MILLINOCKET, Maine — The Three Rivers Rock & Rodeo Weekend will feature The Kelly Parker Band from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 28-29, at the Boatman’s Bar and Grill in Millinocket. Skydiving and Whitewater Rafting slots are available all weekend.
