BLUE HILL – Celebrate Independence Day at the 21st annual Blue Hill Pops Concert, sponsored by Bagaduce Music Lending Library, at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 3, at George Stevens Academy gymnasium on Union Street. BOOTHBAY HARBOR – Preservation Hall Jazz Band opens the summer season at 8 p.m. June 3, at the Opera House, 86 Townsend Ave. Advance tickets $25 at box office or call 633-5159. Tickets the day of performance are $35, if available. All seats general admission. Tickets and information also available at boothbayoperahouse.com.

BRUNSWICK – The Saltwater Celtic Music Festival, www.saltwaterfest.com, Sunday, July 31, at Thomas Point Beach, and at satellite locations on days leading up to July 31. Celtic musicians include Eileen Ivers and Immigrant Soul, Karan Casey and John Doyle, Buille, The Prodigals, The Dublin City Ramblers, The Screaming Orphans and others. Kevin O’Hara, author of “Last of the Donkey Pilgrims,” will emcee. Satellite events are scheduled with Canada’s Bb Sisters on July 26, at Skye Theatre in Carthage and July 27, at Unity Performing Arts Centre; and on July 30 with Maeve Gilchrist at Maine Maritime Museum in Bath, Ireland’s The Screaming Orphans at Fisherman’s Wharf in Boothbay Harbor, and an all-star Maine Celtic session at Byrnes Irish Pub in Brunswick. CALAIS –  St. Croix Valley Film Society meeting 6 p.m. Friday, May 27, at Holmestead, 527 Main St. in Calais. The society will screen “Hud,” the 1963 American classic film. Event is free, but donations are welcome.

NEWPORT – Performance by Courtney Naliboff, a music, theater and English teacher on North Haven Island, 7 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at Newport Cultural Center. Tickets $5, available at NCC and town office. Opening performance by local musician Reuben York.

MONMOUTH – Movie night series featuring Noel Coward’s “Blithe Spirit,” 7 p.m. Friday, May 27, at Cumston Public Library. A collaboration of The Theater At Monmouth and Cumston Public Library.
