BANGOR, Maine — Bangor Theological Seminary will hold its 192nd commencement at 1 p.m. Friday at its Bangor campus in the Gracie Theatre at Husson University.

The seminary, founded in 1814, will award 16 Master of Divinity degrees and seven Master of the Arts degrees.

The Rev. James Forbes, founder of the nonprofit organization Healing of the Nations, will deliver the commencement address.

His ministry draws its inspiration from Revelation, Chapter 22, which describes the tree of life bearing fruit every month. The image is drawn from the words “and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations,” according to information on the organization’s website.

“It is our mission to invite the citizens of this country to become leaves of healing,” the website states. “An individual cannot address all the problems of our time. But, each of us can be a leaf. To be a leaf is to make a commitment to be an instrument of healing in some particular situation in need of health, healing, balance, and wholeness.”
