Shead High School honor parts released

EASTPORT, Maine — Principal Paul Theriault of Shead High School has announced the graduation honor parts for the class of 2011.

Patricia A. Johnson, daughter of Roland and Crystal Johnson of Eastport, has been named valedictorian for her class. She plans to attend the New Hampshire Institute of Art in Manchester to study photography.

She has participated in band, life drawing sessions, art shows and the camera obscura workshop, and has done community service as a volunteer for the community garden and Bible camp.

Kirby S. McPhail, daughter of Peter and Tammy McPhail of Perry, has been named salutatorian for her class. She plans to attend Thomas College in Waterville to study business.

She has been active in student government, the National Honor Society and yearbook, and is a four-year member of the soccer, tennis and basketball teams. She is the assistant basketball coach at the elementary school and worked on the Red Cross blood drive.

Sarah Ashley, daughter of Merilyn Mills of Eastport and Patrick Ashley of Bangor, has been named first honor part. She will attend St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y., with an undeclared major.

Megan R. Patterson, daughter of Robert and Jennifer Patterson of Perry, has been named second honor part. She will attend Husson College in Bangor to study nursing.

John Garnett, son of Wayne and Susan Garnett of Dennysville, has been named third honor part.  He plans to attend Maine Maritime Academy in Castine to study Marine Engineering Operations.

Garret Sullivan, son of Christopher and Moka Sullivan of Perry, has been named fourth honor part. He plans to attend the University of Maine in Orono to study computer engineering.
