Operation Hydration to hold dinner, auction in Bangor

BANGOR, Maine — Operation Hydration, a spaghetti dinner and silent auction hosted by the Bangor Y’s Interact Leaders Club to benefit Water.org, 5-8 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at Jeff’s Catering in Brewer. Water.org is a nonprofit organization that provides access to safe water and sanitation in hundreds of communities in Africa, South Asia and Central America. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students and $5 for seniors and children younger than 12, and can be purchased at the door or in advance at the Y. 941-2808.

BREWER, Maine — Local chefs and their students to showcase culinary skills at the inaugural Chefs Gone Wild, 6 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at Muddy Rudder. SOUTHWEST HARBOR, Maine — Red Sky restaurant will donate its revenue from dinners sold 5:30-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, to benefit the Share the Harvest program on Beech Hill Farm at College of the Atlantic. The community program provides vouchers for fresh produce to those who might not otherwise be able to afford that type of food. Red Sky is at 14 Clark Point Road. Last season Beech Hill Farm distributed 40 farm stand gift certificates through the Bar Harbor and Westside Food Pantries, funded primarily from donations from the MDI community. WASHINGTON COUNTY, Maine — The Washington County Wide CANS of Food Drive, sponsored by SuprTEK and Washington County Food and Fuel Alliance, will continue until the end of May. The goal is $6,000 and 6,000 cans of food, which will be divided between 12 food pantries in the county. SuprTEK will donate up to $3,000 by matching $1 for every can of food collected by their own employees and schools throughout Washington county.
