Congratulations, you have made it to the last week of the Move and Improve Program. Great job reaching all your fitness and wellness goals! Everyone who participated in the program has done an amazing job, and should be proud.
Now that the program is wrapping up, some people have the question: where do I go from here? Move and Improve provided motivation, accountability and for some, teamwork. Move and Improve is a great jump start into your fitness and wellness lifestyle. Just because the program is almost over does not mean that your journey needs to end, but it is just beginning. Here are some tips to help you stay motivated and continue your quest to become your ideal self!
Tip #1- Create your vision
Creating a vision of your ideal self is an important steps in developing appropriate fitness or wellness goals for yourself. Knowing what you want to accomplish in the future, provides the motivation for success. The vision is of who you want to be or your ideal self. You can always come back to this vision whenever you need to restore faith in yourself and stay motivated to accomplishing your goals.
Tip #2 – Set SMART goals
SMART goals refer to goals that are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely. Your goals should give you the framework and the path to help you complete your wellness vision. Setting unobtainable goals will sap your energy and motivation to complete your vision. Best advice: start with realistic goals that you can complete. With those goals in place, then you can work on smaller weekly goals that will help you accomplish your three-month goals. These goals should be related to your vision and should act as building blocks to reaching that vision.
Tip #3- Keep a journal
Recording your goals and daily activities will hold you accountable and keep you on track. By writing down the things you do, how you feel and what motivates you, you can get good indicators of what will help you succeed. This reinforces your goals and vision, and enables you to keep track of ups and downs in energy levels. Start off with just meals, or exercise, feeling and emotions and you may find a pattern. Once you find that pattern, stay with the things that give you an emotional high and stay away from the emotional lows.
Tip #4- Enlist a support team
Having a support team in place provides motivation for you to succeed. Telling someone or a group of people what you want to do and how they can support you, is very powerful. They are holding you accountable for reaching your goals and motivating you to succeed. Having support enables your success, so start looking for that support now.
Tip #5- Find a coach
Coaches are important because they help to create your vision of wellness and development of SMART goals for the future. A coach can help support you in your quest for better wellness, by focusing on you. Coaches guide you through the process and reinforce that not reaching your goals is not a failure, but a small step backward in preparation for a giant leap forward. Sessions with a coach are non-judgmental and the coach listens with empathy and compassion in order to support you along the way.
The strides that you have accomplished during the Move and Improve program can be continued in your everyday lifestyle. Move and Improve is a great starting point in your journey toward a healthier lifestyle. Using the tips above will encourage and motivate you on your path toward wellness.
