The Camden-Rockport Animal Rescue League’s fourth annual Muttwalk will put paws to the pavement at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 11. Participants may choose from two walks that will be held simultaneously in Camden and Belfast. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. at the Animal Rescue League building for the Camden walk and at Belfast City Park for the Belfast walk. The walks will be held rain or shine.
The Camden route will take walkers down some of Camden’s side streets to Destination Dog for refreshments and back up through town to the shelter.
The Belfast route will begin at the City Park and go down Northport Avenue and High Street to the Belfast Co-op for refreshments and back to the City Park by way of Church Street and Northport Avenue.
Form a pack of walkers by getting a group of friends, family or co-workers together to combine pledge-raising potential. There will be special prizes for the packs in both adult and child categories that raise the most money in addition to prizes for individuals at each location. Dogs are encouraged to walk too — as long as they keep their human on a leash at all times — and prizes will be awarded in several different dog categories.
The event will culminate with the crowning of the Top Dog. The top fundraiser’s dog will be awarded the honor and introduced as the grand marshal of the Muttwalk. Everyone raising a minimum of $25 will get a T-shirt and a bandana for their four-legged friend.
Pledge forms may be downloaded at www.crarl.org or picked up at the shelter at 146 Camden St., Destination Dog, Camden Hospital for Animals, PenBay Veterinary Associates, the Loyal Biscuit, Foster’s Family Pet Center, Aubuchon Hardware, Chase’s Daily or Belle the Cat. For more information, call the shelter at 236-8702.
