Honor parts, Class of 2011

Principal Henry Pietras has announced the honor parts for the Lincoln-area school’s Class of 2011.

Jina Libby, daughter of Durwin and Robin Libby of Chester, has been named valedictorian for her class. She plans to attend Houghton College in western New York to study in the pre-med biology program.

Libby has been vice president of the National Honor Society, president of her senior class, captain of the ski team and captain of MA’s Relay for Life team. She was the recipient of the Charles A. Robbins Endowment Award her freshman and sophomore years, the Engineering Award her junior year, and the Maine Principal’s Association and Mattanawcook Academy Scholastic Athlete awards her senior year.

She has participated on the soccer, ski and tennis teams as well as in gymnastics. She logged more than 400 hours of community service and in her junior year was selected as a delegate to the 64th session of Dirigo Girls State, where she was appointed to Honor Guard and elected to serve in the House of Representatives.

Selden Porter, son of Dale R. and Joan Porter of Lincoln, has been named salutatorian for his class. He will attend Rochester Institute of Technology in New York to study mechanical engineering, automotive option.

Porter is captain of the math team and member of the National Honor Society, Boys State band, jazz band, pep band and “M” club. He participated in soccer, indoor track and tennis. He was the recipient of the Williams College Book Award his junior year and has earned academic awards throughout his high school years and received excellence awards in chemistry, pre-calculus and statistics.
