Midcoast man to walk 9 miles for new life

CAMDEN, Maine — Since starting his quest to live life lean in November 2010, Chad Ridge has lost more than 80 pounds. He works out on a regular basis and watches what and how much he eats. Every month he embarks on a new challenge and was in the news recently to help raise funds for The Community School in Camden by performing in Dancing with Local Stars.

Soon, Chad will walk the 9 miles from Camden to Rockland. For safety reasons, Chad asks that people not walk with him along Route 1, but to see him off and join him as he enters Rockland. Jensen’s Pharmacy on Camden Street, where the University of Maine is housed, is where Chad will allow walkers to join him.

Chad will start his walk at 7 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at the Camden Chamber building. He expects to arrive between 11:30 a.m. and noon at the Rockland Chamber of Commerce. He has asked Camden and Rockland City Councilors and other heads of state to join him for the last half-mile.
