BANGOR, Maine — Bring the whole family to a spring art-making event 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at the University of Maine Museum of Art, 40 Harlow St. Different stations will be set up, each offering the chance to participate in various art projects. The museum is partnering with the Penobscot River Restoration Project, and representatives will be on hand to offer additional activities focused on birds and fish. OLD TOWN — The Old Town Orono Animal Orphanage will be honored at a community dinner sponsored by Friends of the River Coalition at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 20, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Gilman Falls Avenue. BANGOR — A program on tai chi for osteoporosis will be presented by the Rev. Dr. Bruce M. Young of Bian Tai Chi at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 19, at the Bangor Y on Second Street. The talk is free. BANGOR — Fifth annual Senior Expo in honor of Older Americans Month by Eastern Area Agency on Aging and Penquis, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, May 20, at Spectacular Event Center, 395 Griffin Road. Free. There will be 70 vendors with information; door prizes; screenings all day, including vision, cholesterol, glucose, several blood pressure tables; falls-risk assessments and more. To schedule a falls-risk assessment in advance, call Eastern Area Agency on Aging, 800-432-7812, and ask for Lisa Dunning. Walk-in appointments are available. Penobscot County Triad will be there with their drug drop-off box so seniors can bring their expired or unneeded prescriptions to be disposed of properly. The Senior Expo is exclusively sponsored by Martin’s Point Health Care.
