ROCKPORT — Rockland Branch Manager Judith Brogden announced that Machias Savings Bank will give the Center for Maine Contemporary Art $1,500 in support of its 34th annual Benefit Art Auction.

“Machias Savings Bank’s gift reflects the growing importance of the arts in Maine’s economy and culture,” said CMCA Director Suzette McAvoy. “We are extremely grateful for their support of our auction and its mission of advancing contemporary art in Maine.”

The annual Benefit Art Auction is CMCA’s largest fundraiser and provides significant support for the 59-year-old organization’s operations. Each year, 100 of Maine’s most distinguished contemporary artists are invited to donate work for the auction, which is the foremost benefit auction of current art in Maine.

The auction will be held Sunday, July 31, at Point Lookout in Northport. An exhibition of the art, titled “Art to Collect Now,” will take place July 16–30 at CMCA in Rockport. For more information about the auction and exhibition, visit www.cmcanow.org.
