Brewer softball shuts out Edward Little to go 8-0

BREWER — Morgan Haradon had two singles and two RBIs as undefeated Brewer rolled to its eighth high school softball win with a 4-0 victory over Edward Little of Auburn on Wednesday.

Emily Cox scattered five hits while striking out six to earn her fourth shutout of the season. Haradon added a run scored.

Melissa Paione doubled to lead 4-4 Edward Little of Auburn.

At Bar Harbor, Ashley Thayer hit three singles and knocked in two runs in helping power Hermon past Mount Desert Island.

Sami Schultz and McKayla Bates both doubled and singled for 6-0 Hermon.

Shelby O’Neil and Amber Pelletier each singled and scored for the 4-4 Trojans.

At Orono, Jill Tuell had a double and single to knock in three runs while Andi Foster pitched a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts as Orono beat Penobscot Valley.

Kat Howland singled and doubled while Caitlyn Goodwin had two singles and three runs for the 6-2 Red Riots.

Kayla Dube, Ariel Vanadestine and Alissa Whitten all singled for the 6-3 Howlers of Howland.

At Calais, Meghan Cavanaugh led off the bottom of the 10th inning with a bunt single, stole second, went to third on a wild pitch, and scored on Miranda Moffett’s single down the right field line to give the 7-0 Blue Devils the win.

Kate Cundiff hit a one-out RBI double to tie the game and cap a three-run rally by Calais in the seventh.

Moffett had a triple, two singles, and three RBIs. Allison Hill had two singles, two doubles and two RBIs.

For 3-5 Narraguagus of Harrington, Kristina Bailey and Katie Dow each singled twice.

At Houlton, Courtney Colligan hit two singles and knocked in three runs in helping Presque Isle past Houlton.

Abbey Kinens singled twice and scored two runs for the 0-8 Shiretowners. Alaina Stewart hit an RBI single.

At Corinth, Kaleb Smith pitched a three-hitter with seven strikeouts as undefeated Foxcroft Academy earned its ninth victory.

Cameron Fadley doubled and singled with an RBI for the Ponies, while Ryan Rebar aned Nick Strout each singled twice and Shinsuke Mikame doubled.

Cody Caruso, David Lord and Matt Bruce each singled for 3-3 Central.

Caruso pitched a complete game for the Red Devils, yielding one earned run while striking out 10 batters and walking two.

At Bar Harbor, Braddock Deabay hit a double, two singles and drove in two runs as Hermon earned a narrow win over Mount Desert Island.

Reid McGinley tripled and scored two runs for 6-2 Hermon. Logan Trembley hit a run-scoring double and Cody Veilleux struck out 10.

Caleb MacDonald hit two singles and scored twice for the 7-3 Trojans. Ben Walls added two singles.

At Houlton, Tanner Caron hit a two-out double, scoring Hunter Hanning in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead Houlton past Presque Isle.

Caron tallied two doubles and two RBIs for the 4-4 Shiretowners. Ian Gervais struck out seven while allowing two runs on one hit and three walks.

Isaac Lajoie hit an RBI single in the third for 3-3 Presque Isle.

At Brewer, Luke Farrago allowed one run through seven innings with four hits, three walks and nine strikeouts as Edward Little of Auburn beat Brewer.

Josh Delong had a double, single, RBI and two runs for 5-3 Edward Little. Nate Blais hit two singles and Cam Bisson had a double and two RBIs.

Kyle McLain led 3-5 Brewer with a single and an RBI. Brandon Gendreau broke up the no-hitter with a single with two outs in the sixth inning.
