Houlton auction to benefit campaign for digital mammography

HOULTON, Maine — The Health Services Foundation Charity Auction will benefit the foundation’s Breast Cancer Campaign for Digital Mammography at Houlton Regional Hospital with a preview at 6 p.m. and auction at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at York’s of Houlton Showroom.

Maine Guard adjutant general announces promotions

AUGUSTA, Maine — Maj. John W. Libby, adjutant general of the Maine National Guard, announces the promotion to the rank specified below for the following Maine Army National Guard soldiers:

Tyler Wintle, PFC, Dexter, CO B, 3/172d Infantry.

Britany Carter, PFC, Bradley, HHC 286th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion.

The soldiers were promoted in April 2011.

Free cats available at Halfway Home Pet Rescue

CARIBOU, Maine — Free adult cats are offered through the Halfway Home Pet Rescue to responsible homes to make room for additional cats who need immediate medical care.
