DEDHAM, Maine — The Dedham Congregational Church will hold a baked bean supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at the church on Route 46 in Dedham Village. Price is $8 for adults, $4 for children.

Women’s barbershop quartet holding open house

BANGOR, Maine — The Heart of Maine Chorus, a women’s barbershop group and chapter of Sweet Adelines International, is hosting an open house at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 23, at 639 Grandview Ave. in Bangor.

The open house is an opportunity for interested individuals to observe a working rehearsal, basic techniques of harmony and participate in learning a song. Light refreshments and a question and answer period will follow the presentation.

Affordable housing committee holding lunch seminar

BANGOR, Maine — The Affordable Housing Committee of the Greater Bangor Association of Realtors will sponsor a free “Soup, Sandwiches and Solvency Seminar” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at 108 State St. in Bangor.

Audubon holding tree identification workshop

HOLDEN, Maine — Join Steve Sader, School of Forest Resources at UMaine in Orono, for a summer tree identification workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 28, at Fields Pond Audubon Center in Holden. Participants also will learn how to build their own plant press. Bring along binos if you have them.

Workshop on interpreting the forested landscape at Fields Pond

HOLDEN, Maine — A workshop on interpreting the forested landscape of Fields Pond will be held 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 21, at Fields Pond Audubon Center in Holden. We’ll search for evidence of ecological disturbances such as agriculture, fire, logging and storms, piece together the mystery of why Fields Pond looks the way it does, and build skills that can be applied in any forested landscape.

Photo exhibit of summer camp on display at Fields Pond

HOLDEN, Maine — Maine Audubon naturalist Holly Twining will show her photography of Fields Pond Nature Connections Summer Camp 2010 through mid-June at Fields Pond Audubon Center in Holden. The center is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday-Saturday.

Documentary examines cost of extravagant lifestyles
