Former MMA workers in Limestone to receive assistance

WASHINGTON — Sens. Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins and Rep. Mike Michaud announced Wednesday that the U.S. Department of Labor is awarding a $463,083 National Emergency Grant to the Maine Department of Labor to serve workers affected by layoffs at Maine Military Authority in Limestone.

According to USDOL, the grant will be used to prepare workers for positions in high-growth sectors in the area, including health care and social assistance, leisure and hospitality, professional and business services, and retail trade. The grant  will be administered by the Aroostook/Washington Counties Workforce Investment Board.
