Cathie Pelletier teaching UMFK summer courses

FORT KENT, Maine — Author Cathie Pelletier will teach two, three-credit courses during UMFK’s 2011 summer sessions. Writing Workshop ll will be held from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, May 16- June 24. Stories In The Community, a second session, will be held between July 5 and August 12 at the campus. The class is open to avid readers who wish to learn more about writing. Coast Guard schedules boating safety day

PORTLAND, Maine — The Coast Guard’s annual Boat Smart recreational boating safety day, open house and boating and kayaking safety seminar will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Saturday, May 14, at Coast Guard Sector Northern New England, 259 High St. in South Portland. Unicycler heading west to benefit Red Cross

PORTLAND, Maine — Bob Mueller of Oakland embarks upon a 3,600-mile, trans-USA unicycle ride in support of the American Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund, ” Bob Across America,” at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, at the Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth. He departs the Portland, Maine area determined to arrive on the west coast near Portland, Oregon by mid-August.
